These students need guidance which can be provided by Mala Education.

About MBBS in Abroad

As the education system in India has numerous flaws, students who fail to secure seats in government colleges, opt to go abroad rather than studying in private universities. This has been proven through the high number of Overseas Education Consultants in India over the years. Students can aim higher and get a chance to study in top universities of countries such as Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and many more.

The lack of infrastructure, which is needed to engage young MBBS students is also a reason for many students to choose universities abroad.

It also helps students expand their prospects, opportunities, and horizons. Students get to experience new cultures and people, live amongst locals, and gain exposure that would otherwise be hard to come by. All these factors lead to a positive change in the mindset of the individuals.

Studying in the top 5 English speaking countries, such as the USA, UK, Canada, etc., is always a priority, but students also prefer countries like Ukraine, Georgia, etc., as the cost of education is lower there.

MBBS for Indian students is available for about 9 to 60 lakhs (the lower range) in MCI approved universities abroad. It has been found that the fee structure of MCI approved universities abroad is fairly low. Thus, students can get high quality education and infrastructure at very affordable prices if they pursue MBBS abroad.

The medical admission system in India went through a few changes in 2016 and 2017. In 2016, NEET -1 was necessary for admission in government medical colleges and NEET -2 for admission in private medical colleges. This change made it very difficult for students to secure MBBS seats in India.

In 2017, both private and government colleges had only NEET as the criteria for admission in MBBS. But this also led to an increase in competition, which ultimately leads students to opt for MBBS abroad, where there are no entrance examinations and the cost of education is also low. Getting admission abroad can be done very easily by reserving a seat in any of the top universities abroad in the month of May/June so as to ensure that the student gets admission in any of the top colleges there if they are unable to secure a government seat in India.

List of Top Universities on a Budget

Students have a wide range of options when it comes to selecting a university that fits their budget. This is very rarely possible with private universities in India where the cost of MBBS is 70+ lakhs.

The budget includes (for the entire course):

● The tuition fee for the year
● Accommodation cost (on/off campus)
● Living expenses
● Food costs
● Miscellaneous costs – Health insurance, textbooks, transportation, resident permit, etc.

MBBS Abroad Course Term

There are two variations with respect to MBBS abroad:

● 5 years abroad and an internship in India
● 6 years abroad and an internship abroad

Students usually opt for the 6 years MBBS abroad course as after the completion of MBBS in an MCI approved university, the students, to work in India, must:

1. Clear the MCI Screening Test/FMGE Exam
2. Complete a one year internship in India
3. Register with the MCI

Advantages of MBBS Abroad

There are a number of benefits to studying MBBS outside India:

● Many universities abroad are MCI approved, which helps students complete their PG/MD in India if    necessary.
● The average cost is about 2 to 5 lakhs per year, lower than the average cost of many private    universities and colleges in India.
● The living costs of many countries is as low as that of India.
● There are no entrance examinations and students can get admission immediately after class 12.
● Many universities abroad offer scholarships to students who are in need of financial assistance.

The MCI Screening Test

Upon returning to India, after the completion of their MBBS, students need to undergo a MCI Screening test. Many students are unable to pass this exam after their return, leading many to opt instead to stay abroad for the 6 year programme and also complete their PG abroad. To crack the MCI Screening test many students start preparing for it from their 1st year of MBBS up until the complete their MBBS, i.e., for 5+1 years. This is one of the only ways through which students are able to clear the test.

How to Select the Best University

Selecting the university which is a best fit for the student is much more important than selecting the top rated university. The following points must be kept in mind before deciding on a particular university:

● Whether the university/ college is MCI approved.
● Whether the tuition fee falls under the students’ budget range.
● The living expenses of the country.
● Grade of the University.
● The experience, in years, the University has in teaching MBBS in English.
● Hostels and Accommodation available.
● The number of Indian students in the course and/or the campus.

Admission Process

The admission process is simple and is initiated as soon as the documents are submitted. Students can also reserve a seat during the completion of their class 12 so as to ensure that they get admission to the university of their choice. The documents needed are the marksheets for Class 12, their passport details, and many universities even require letters of recommendations from teachers. The other documents may defer from university to university.

Students today prefer to study abroad for a number of reasons, including better job prospects, lower cost of educations, and ultimately higher quality of life. Choosing the best university to satisfy their wants is extremely important, and thus students should consult the best educational professionals in the field to gain the required knowledge.
